GREGG PECK

September 28, 1963 – May 4, 2020

Coppell, TX

Gregg Peck went home to heaven on May 4, 2020.  Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Gregg had many fun childhood stories with his large, close-knit family.   He was the ultimate optimist, the one who was always smiling and creating joy to those around him.  To know him, was to love him.

Growing up, Gregg followed his older brother Dave and became a recognized and accomplished racquetball player and was recently honored with the highest honor to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of USA Racquetball.  He stayed involved and in touch with the racquetball community, and continued to mentor and encourage new players.

Gregg met Lauren, a Southwest Airlines Flight Attendant at the time, on a SWA flight and their relationship of 33 years “took off”.  Their relationship was admired by all who were close to them.  They were true partners in life and supported / leaned on each other.  They went on to live in Little Rock for 3 years and Houston for a short time before establishing their permanent home base in Coppell.  He adored Lauren and always sang her praises to others.  He was proud of her career at Southwest Airlines and was a huge Southwest Airlines fan.  He enjoyed and was forever grateful for their relationship with Herb, Colleen and the many other co-workers/friends.  Lauren was his rock. But Gregg was hers.

With their two daughters, Gregg set out to be the BEST girl dad.  Chandler & Allie were the light of his world and he supported them in everything.  As die-hard UT fans, Gregg and Lauren took the girls to many UT football, volleyball and basketball games growing up.  Yet the girls both chose to attend OU.  Gregg embraced the “house divided” and in typical G-Swag style, dressed in OU Red and took Chandler to see them play in the Rose Bowl.  When his friends teased him about switching teams – he would laugh and say things like “I like winners”; referring to OU’s winning football team.  Close friends thought the girls chose OU in part just to tease and play the ultimate joke on dad.  Rarely do you see such a bond between a man and his girls.  Their Indian Princesses, where he proudly took on the tribe name, “Tinky Winky”, many years of Mavs basketball games, trips to the beach, shopping and the list could go on.

Gregg was a people person and could strike up a conversation with anyone.  He made each of his friends feel important and special, and had the unique ability to keep in contact with people from every decade of his life.   He enjoyed being bilingual, giving him one more avenue to communicate with more people and practiced every chance he got.   The old saying - he never met a stranger was actually perfected by Gregg.

He and Lauren friended their friends, cooked for them, listened to them and took interest in their lives.  If you walked in the Peck door, Gregg was going to make great eye contact with you, engage in conversation, get to know you and many kids would come back over the years to seek his advice, laugh and get a dose of G Peck fun.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lauren, their two beautiful daughters, Chandler and Allie, his siblings, Hamilton & Kris Peck, Dave & Laura Peck, Courtney Mayer, Cyd & Tommy Goldfarb, Lara Hernandez, and Sharon & Greg Hayes.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Peck and his father Dr. Reigh Peck. He loved Lauren’s family and treasured them as his own.

A celebration of life will be scheduled once travel restrictions allow his family and close friends to safely gather and honor Gregg.
